Mohamed Sanu officially is a member of the New England Patriots. Whether he suits up for the Patriots on Sunday remains to be seen, though.
The veteran wide receiver, who came to New England via trade from the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, told ESPN's Josina Anderson he's unsure if he'll play against the Cleveland Browns but will be "ready" if his number is called.
Sanu has his work cut out for him on a short week, as he'll have just three days of practice before Sunday's game. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady also admitted Wednesday morning it may take some time for the 30-year-old to learn a new playbook and develop trust with his quarterback.
Sanu contributing Sunday isn't out of the realm of possibility, though. Antonio Brown signed with the Patriots on Sept. 7 and played against the Miami Dolphins eight days later, recording four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.
While Sanu is on a tighter timeline, he still may be able to learn a few basic pass concepts and at least see the field.
Sanu is expected to participate in his first Patriots practice Wednesday, so we'll find out soon enough how he fits in.
