Wayne dressed to play; Edelman, Cadet out

It appears as though the football-watching world will get its first look at Reggie Wayne in a Patriots uniform on Friday night.

The 15-year veteran is dressed and looks poised to take the field as the Patriots take on the Panthers in their third preseason game. Wayne practiced just twice with his new team this week.

Also on the field is newly-acquired player Michael Williams. Though he has played as a tackle in recent seasons with the Lions, Williams is wearing No. 85 and will play tight end. He played tight end during the media-availability portion of practice on Wednesday.

Tight end Scott Chandler and receiver Aaron Dobson both were dressed before the game. Both players have missed each of New England's first two preseason games. Defensive lineman Trey Flowers, who missed the team's preseason game in New Orleans after suffering an injury against the Packers in the preseason opener, was also dressed.

Among those players not in uniform before the game were receivers Julian Edelman, Josh Boyce and Brandon LaFell (still on the physically unable to perform list), corner Darryl Roberts, running back Travaris Cadet, linebackers Dekota Watson, Eric Martin and Dane Fletcher (PUP), offensive linemen Marcus Cannon, Ryan Wendell (practiced twice this week), Bryan Stork and Chris Barker, and defensive linemen Joe Vellano and Chris Jones (PUP).
