Tom E. Curran: Josh Gordon ‘showing signs of undependability' before Patriots released him

Share

The Patriots parted ways with oft-troubled receiver Josh Gordon this week, releasing him after initially placing him on injured reserve.

As NBC Sports Boston Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran noted here last week and again on Friday in a conversation with Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, it was Gordon's dependability - or lack of it - that again became an issue before his time with the Patriots ended.

“He was showing signs of undependability,” Curran told Florio.

It is, of course, an issue that has dogged the receiver throughout his career and manifested itself in multiple NFL-mandated substance-abuse related suspensions. The talent was never in question, though his production (20 catches for 287 yards in six games) had begun to slip.
