Tom Brady creates Twitter account to post April Fools' retirement joke

Tom Brady apparently went to great lengths to give New England Patriots fans a heart attack on April Fools' Day.

We'll cut right to the chase: Here's what a verified Twitter account under the name "Tom Brady" posted early Monday afternoon:

Brady is very active on Instagram and Facebook but didn't have a Twitter account -- he actively avoided the platform, in fact -- until very recently. A look at the "Tom Brady" Twitter bio shows he joined the social media platform in March 2019, and Monday was his first tweet.

It's April Fools' Day on Monday, of course, so we're assuming the 41-year-old quarterback isn't actually joining his buddy Rob Gronkowski in retirement.

But it certainly seems like Brady created his own Twitter account to get in on the pranking action. And his current employer wasn't having it.

Whether Brady keeps his Twitter running or shuts it down after Monday's goof will be the real speculation.
