New England Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore gave an excellent performance in Sunday's 27-13 win over the New York Jets, and Pro Football Focus helped highlight his dominant play by sharing a great stat on Twitter.
Jets quarterback Josh McCown had a horrible time throwing against Gilmore in Week 12, including an interception the Patriots corner was able to come up with late in the first half that halted a promising New York drive. Overall, McCown was just 1-for-5 for 17 yards and an interception when throwing in Gilmore's direction, good for a passer rating of just 1.7.
Gilmore's performance has been a good indication of the Patriots' success overall. The Patriots, over the last two seasons, are 2-5 when Gilmore surrenders a passing touchdown and 21-2 when he doesn't.
The Patriots will need Gilmore's exceptional play to continue if they're going to secure a top-two seed in the AFC and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Two of the Patriots' next three games are against the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers, and both of those teams have top-tier wide receivers, including Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
