These stats show Rams probably shouldn't blitz Patriots QB Tom Brady in Super Bowl

The best formula to beat the New England Patriots is by pressuring quarterback Tom Brady, but blitzing isn't always the best way to apply that pressure.

Brady actually excels against the blitz, and these Next-Gen stats in the tweet below serve as evidence.

Brady's best weapon against the blitz is his quick release. He's able to get the ball out so fast, and often in these blitzing situations he'll find running back James White on a short pass.

The goal for the Rams in Sunday's Super Bowl LIII showdown should be to pressure Brady with their normal front, and that means Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh beating Patriots center David Andrews and guards Shaq Mason and Joe Thuney up the middle. Donald led the NFL with 20.5 sacks during the regular season, and Suh draws double teams with his size and strength.

Brady hasn't been sacked once in the playoffs, and he's only been hit one time on 90 pass attempts. That's remarkable pass protection by the Patriots offensive line, and if that continues in Super Bowl LIII, the Rams' pass defense likely will get picked apart by Brady.
