Texans withdrawing Nick Caserio pursuit, Patriots dropping tampering charges

The Texans are withdrawing their pursuit of Nick Caserio for their general manager position.

Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair released a statement on the matter on Friday.

The Patriots, as a result, have dropped the tampering charges they filed against Houston and Patriots owner Robert Kraft released his own statement through the team praising McNair's handling of the situation.

On Monday, the Texans formally requested an interview with Caserio for their vacant GM position. However, the Patriots used interactions between Texans executive Jack Easterby (formally the Pats character coach) and Caserio at the team's Super Bowl ring ceremony as tampering evidence. Houston's previous GM, Brian Gaine, was fired the day after the ceremony.

Caserio has served as the Patriots' director of player personnel since 2008.
