Steelers lose center Pouncey to fractured fibula

The Patriots are dealing with a host of injuries, but none are as serious as the one their opening night opponent, the Steelers, absorbed on Sunday.

Maurkice Pouncey, Pittsburgh’s highly-regarded center, fractured his fibula against the Packers. Surgery is coming and Pouncey will be down for at least two months.

Pouncey’s backup is Cody Wallace. Wallace replaced Pouncey in 2013 when he sustained a knee injury. This is the third significant leg injury for Pouncey in six seasons.

The Steelers will also be without Le’Veon Bell for the opener. He’s serving a suspension. The Patriots are definitely without the suspended LeGarrette Blount and – unless something changes – will be without Tom Brady as well.
