Source: Butler still upset, but head in ‘right place' if he has to return to Pats

Malcolm Butler remains in no man’s land, having still not signed his $3.91 million tender for next season, with an extension with the Patriots looking less likely by the day.

As he awaits whatever comes next — perhaps a trade to the Saints — a source close to the player told CSN's Mike Giardi that Butler’s head is “in the right place” and would be even if he returned to New England under the tender.

While the talk about the tender suggests the player is entertaining a return to New England, the source told Giardi that Butler is still upset that the Patriots gave a big free agent contract to Stephon Gilmore and have expressed interest in trading for Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.
