Rob Gronkowski's "next chapter" has been revealed -- and it actually has something to do with sports.
At a press conference Tuesday in New York, the retired New England Patriots tight end announced a partnership with CBDMedic, a subsidiary of Abacus Health Solutions that produces a line of Cannabidiol-based pain relief medications.
"I decided to walk away from the game for one main reason: I had to recover," Gronkowski said during his press conference. "That's why you haven't seen me in five months. I've been rebuilding myself and finding a new way."
CBD is a banned substance in the NFL, but Gronkowski insisted the substance has helped him recover from the pain he suffered through during his nine-year NFL career. Gronkowski also wants to be an advocate for getting CBD approved in major professional sports so other athletes can benefit from the substance.
"I'm here today to appeal to the sports governing bodies of the world to update their position on CBD, whether that's the NBA, MLB or NFL," Gronkowski said. "It's just time."
Gronkowski made his partnership with CBDMedic official on social media shortly after the press conference.
The 30-year-old also left the door open for an NFL comeback during an emotional Q&A session, but his current focus will be on this business venture with CBDMedic.
