Rob Gronkowski missing from the start of Patriots practice; Tom Brady present

FOXBORO -- Rob Gronkowski was missing from the start of Wednesday's practice as he continues to deal with what's been reported as a chest injury. He was the only player not present on the team's practice field behind Gillette Stadium.

NFL Media has described the injury as "what's believed to be a punctured lung" and a "perforated lung." ESPN, meanwhile, characterized the injury as a chest issue that is considered "not overly serious."

Gronkowski likely suffered the injury as a result of a high-impact hit he took from Seahawks safety Earl Thomas on Sunday night. Thomas tweeted some words of support for Gronkowski on Tuesday, and Gronkowski responded in kind.

Tom Brady, who absorbed a low hit against the Seahawks and admitted after the game that he was sore, was present for the start of practice. Brady did not meet with reporters on Wednesday, as is normally the case. His weekly press conference has been rescheduled for Thursday.
