The list of people who will interview for the New England Patriots' offensive coordinator job is growing.
Josina Anderson reported Thursday morning that Arizona Cardinals associate head coach and wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson will interview for the role.
Jefferson joins Minnesota Vikings wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell, University of Oregon associate head coach and offensive line coach Adrian Klemm and Patriots tight ends coach Nick Caley as people who reportedly have, or will soon interview for this OC job. Jefferson, McCardell and Klemm have all played under Patriots head coach Bill Belichick during his coaching career.
Jefferson was with Belichick and the Patriots in 1996. Belichick was the assistant head coach and defensive backs coach under head coach Bill Parcells. Belichick went with Parcells to the New York Jets after the 1996 campaign. Jefferson played in New England from 1996 through 1999.
Jefferson's coaching career began with the Detroit Lions in 2006. He's been a member of the Cardinals staff since 2021.
Bill O'Brien is the "primary target" for the Patriots regarding their OC job, our Tom E. Curran reported earlier this week. But it looks like the Patriots will bring in several different candidates for interviews.
