The New England Patriots have traded tight end Michael Hoomanawanui to the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Patriots will receive defensive end Akiem Hicks in exchange for the veteran tight end.
Hoomanawanui, 27, has been with the Patriots since 2012. He has played in two games for the team in 2015, but did not record a reception.
Hicks, a third-round pick in 2012, has played in all three games for the New Orleans Saints, but has yet to record a tackle on the season. Last season, the 25-year-old defensive end had 27 tackles and 2 sacks.
