Redskins coach admits he doesn't have QB plan for Patriots matchup

The Washington Redskins are a mess, and one particular area of disarray is the quarterback position.

The Redskins started veteran quarterback Case Keenum against the New York Giants in Week 4, but he was replaced by rookie Dwayne Haskins in the second quarter. Haskins didn't play well, completing just nine of 17 pass attempts for 107 yards and three interceptions. Washington lost 24-3 to the Giants to fall to 0-4 on the season.

More pain likely is on the way for the Redskins with the undefeated New England Patriots coming to Washington for a Week 5 matchup Sunday afternoon. The Patriots have the league's best defense -- a unit that leads the league in yards and points allowed per game. Haskins doesn't look ready to face an elite Bill Belichick defense, and Redskins legend Joe Theismann argued that point earlier this week.

So, what's the Redskins' plan at quarterback entering Week 5? Head coach Jay Gruden admitted during a conference call with reporters Wednesday that there isn't a plan.

Uh, what?

Perhaps Gruden is trying to keep the Patriots guessing by not announcing his starting quarterback. Washington could start Keenum, Haskins or Colt McCoy (who's now healthy) versus New England. However, it's hard to give Gruden the benefit of the doubt given his lackluster performance as the team's head coach of late.
