Red Sox vs. Athletics lineups: David Price makes season debut for Boston

Share

The Boston Red Sox are hoping David Price can get the team back on track after a disappointing 1-3 record to begin the season against the Seattle Mariners.

Boston opens its second series of the season Monday night versus the Oakland Athletics at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, where Price will make his season debut.

Red Sox starters have given up 22 earned runs, eight home runs and haven't pitched past the fifth inning so far this year.

Price is coming off a strong 2018 season during which he went 16-7 with a 3.58 ERA, 177 strikeouts and 50 walks over 176 innings. He shined in the playoffs, too, and won the clinching Game 5 of the 2018 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Athletics will send Aaron Brooks to the mound. He did not pitch in Oakland's first six games.

Andrew Benintendi returns to the Red Sox lineup after missing Sunday's loss in Seattle. He will bat second and play left field.
