Prototypical Patriots: Investing in future with defensive backs?

What's more the more important part of an NFL defense?

Is it a strong pass rush from the front seven? Or is it a strong defensive backfield?

Judging by the numbers, depending on where you look, how a team fares in coverage appears to have a greater impact on winning and losing than its pass-rush does. The Patriots seem to ascribe to that theory, repeatedly choosing to invest in defensive backs like Stephon Gilmore, Darrelle Revis, and Devin McCourty over resigning guys up front like Chandler Jones or Trey Flowers.

So even though their secondary for next season looks well stocked, it wouldn't be a shock to the system if Bill Belichick continued to add to the back end of the Patriots' defense during the 2019 NFL Draft.
