Prototypical Patriots: Different fits at edge defender in 2019 Draft

Share

The Patriots defense will have a different look in 2019, especially up front.

Trey Flowers and his team-leading 7.5 sacks bolted for Detroit, with Michael Bennett coming aboard to help fill the void. But the Patriots could look to add some depth through the draft.

Should Bill Belichick look for edge defenders, there are a couple of different ways to approach the position. Maybe it's adding a sub-rusher (like the recently released Adrian Clayborn) who focuses almost exclusively on passing situations. Or perhaps they could look for an every-down type of rusher.

Whichever route the Patriots go, Phil Perry has scouted some edge guys who fit the mold of what New England has done in the past.
