Potentially lopsided Patriots-Giants matchup features fitting prop bet

Things could get ugly at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.

How ugly, you ask? Well, the 5-0 New England Patriots are 16.5-point favorites over the lowly New York Giants, who already are down Wayne Gallman and Sterling Shepard and could be without Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram, as well.

According to the Action Network, that's the biggest point spread in the history of "Thursday Night Football." But there's further evidence the Giants stand no chance in this matchup, and it also comes from Vegas.

Yup: There's a prop bet at SuperBook USA in Las Vegas questioning if New York will ever hold a lead against New England on Thursday night. And the favored bet as of Wednesday is ... no.

This bet is by no means a slam dunk; the hapless Washington Redskins actually scored first against the Patriots in Week 5 before rolling over in a 33-7 loss. All the Giants need to do is get the ball first and muster a field goal to ruin the betting slip.

But consider this: That Washington touchdown was the first-quarter score New England has allowed all season, as its lights-out defense has surrendered just 10 first-half points total through five games.

Even if New York manages to take the lead, the fact that this prop even exists is a sign that the Patriots are expected to cruise to 6-0 on Thursday.
