Be prepared for a very cold afternoon at Gillette Stadium when the New England Patriots host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday in an AFC Divisional Round playoff matchup.
The weather forecast, via NBC 10 Boston, calls for temperatures around 26 degrees in the 1 o'clock hour. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET. Despite previous reports on the possibility of snow, there is no precipitation expected to fall during afternoon.
The temperature is not expected to reach 30 degrees or higher, and that's good news for the Patriots. Pats quarterback Tom Brady is no stranger to cold-weather games, and he has a remarkable 23-4 record when the temperature is under 30 degrees. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is 1-3 when facing the same cold weather.
Battling the cold could be an issue for the Chargers, who don't face these kinds of conditions playing at home in Southern California. The Chargers, to their credit, are 8-1 on the road this season, including the playoffs. They are 8-0 if you exclude their lone regular-season road loss to the Rams in Los Angeles.
Sunday's test should be their toughest yet, though.
