Apparently one Gronkowski and four tight ends just weren't enough for the New England Patriots.
The team announced on Saturday that they signed tight end Greg Scruggs to the 53-man roster and fullback Glenn Gronkowski to the practice squad.
In a corresponding move, the Patriots released defensive lineman John Hughes III from the 53-man roster and wide receiver Da'Ron Brown from the practice squad.
Scruggs was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks as a defensive lineman in 2012. This past offseason he began the switch to tight end. The addition of the 26-year-old gives the Patriots five tight ends on their roster (Rob Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett, Clay Harbor and AJ Derby).
Glenn Gronkowski was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent this season. He was on the Bills 53-man roster to start the season but was released on September 12.
