Terrell McClain, who the Patriots signed last week, was released by the team on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2, 291-pound McClain was a third-round pick of the Panthers in 2011. Taken 65th overall he didn't stick with Carolina despite playing 12 games for them.
He went to South Florida. A corresponding addition to the roster can be expected.
