New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is giving Father Time a run for his money, evidenced by his impressive performances this season at age 41.
Brady is about to enter the 16th playoff run of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers coming to town for Sunday's AFC divisional round matchup at Gillette Stadium.
It's hard to put the Patriots quarterback's age in perspective because we've never seen a player at his position play so well this late in a career. Many players retire well before age 41, and one of them, Kliff Kingsbury, was hired as the Arizona Cardinals new head coach Tuesday.
Kingsbury was once Brady's backup after the Patriots drafted him in the sixth round in 2003. Kingsbury is 39 years old, and he's now one of five NFL head coaches younger than Brady.
The list above doesn't include Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, the former Patriots linebacker who spent eight seasons as Brady's teammate and caught touchdown passes in two different Super Bowls from the legendary quarterback. Vrabel is 43 years old.
Brady will be the oldest quarterback ever to start a playoff game Sunday, and he's likely to break several other age-related records throughout the remainder of his career, which could last as many as five more years.
