Following news this morning that the Patriots are looking to trade for a 'premium' wide receiver, the NFL Network's Michael Giardi reports the Patriots have discussed a deal for Denver Broncos wideout Demaryius Thomas.
Thomas has had a very productive career in Denver, accumlating over 9,000 career receiving yards and 60 touchdowns. From 2012-16, Thomas had five consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons, but through seven games this season, he has 372 yards and three scores.
As Giardi notes, Thomas has a potential out in his contract after this season that would allow New England to $14 million in cap space.
It is unknown what the Broncos would want for Thomas in a deal; the Patriots reportedly are willing to include high draft picks for a high-grade receiver. New England already traded a fifth-round pick in 2019 for Josh Gordon earlier this season.
