Patriots-Giants Week 6 injury report: New York could be without key offensive players

Share

The New York Giants could be without several of their best offensive players in Thursday night's Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

The Giants did not practice Monday. They only held a walkthrough, but if they had practiced, three starters likely would not have participated -- tight end Evan Engram, running back Wayne Gallman and wide receiver Sterling Shepard. Shepard is back in the concussion protocol, which doesn't bode well for him playing versus the Pats.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who suffered an ankle sprain in Week 3 and hasn't played since, could potentially return against the Patriots. It doesn't make sense to rush him back, however, given his importance to the team's future.

The Patriots also did not practice Monday, but if they had, wide receiver Phillip Dorsett likely wouldn't have participated. Dorsett picked up a hamstring injury in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 5 win over the Washington Redskins and didn't return. The injury reportedly is minor, but he's still considered week-to-week. Patriots wide receivers Josh Gordon and Julian Edelman also were projected as limited participants had the team practiced Monday.

Here are the first Week 6 injury reports from the Patriots and Giants, per New England's website.
