Mac Jones is back.
The second-year quarterback will return to the New England Patriots lineup for Monday night's Week 7 game against the Chicago Bears at Gillette Stadium. Jones will start and Bailey Zappe will be the backup.
This will be Jones' first appearance since the Patriots' Week 3 game versus the Baltimore Ravens. Jones suffered an ankle injury late in that loss. Zappe started each of the last two games for the Patriots and led them to wins over the Detroit Lions in Week 5 and the Cleveland Browns in Week 6.

Cassel: Inside the team dynamics of Mac Jones' return from injury
It will be interesting to see how long of a leash Jones gets if he struggles or doesn't look 100 percent healthy. The Patriots learned over the last three weeks that Zappe is capable of running the offense and playing a leading role in winning games.
Third-year running back Damien Harris also will return after missing last week's game with a hamstring injury. Veteran cornerback Jonathan Jones returns, too, after missing the win over the Browns with an injury.
One surprise inactive is starting right tackle Isaiah Wynn. He's battling a shoulder injury. Defensive tackle Christian Barmore (knee) and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (toe) are the other notable inactives for New England.
