FOXBORO -- The Patriots have added rookie offensive lineman Chase Farris to their practice squad.

Farris was present at Wednesday's practice, though the team has not yet announced the move to bring Farris aboard. Practice-squad linebacker Quentin Gause was not present at the session.

In adding Farris, the Patriots have added some depth to their group of offensive linemen inside the locker room. The 53-man roster includes tackles Nate Solder, Marcus Cannon and LaAdrian Waddle, guards Joe Thuney, Shaq Mason, Ted Karras and Jonathan Cooper, and center David Andrews. On the p-squad, Farris joins Chris Barker as one of two offensive linemen.

Farris is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound undrafted rookie out of Ohio State who benched 225 pounds 22 times at his pro day. Farris also ran a 5.17 second 40-yard dash and jumped 26.5 inches in the vertical leap.

The 23-year-old played in 42 games in his four seasons with the Buckeyes, and he started every game in his junior season when Ohio State won the national title. As a freshman, Farris changed positions, moving from the defensive line to the offensive side of the football.
