NFL rumors: Patriots' Stephen Gostkowski to have season-ending hip surgery

Share

The New England Patriots need a new kicker for the rest of the 2019 season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Patriots starting kicker Stephen Gostkowski will miss the rest of the season because of a left hip injury that requires surgery.

The Boston Globe first reported Wednesday that New England was placing Gostkowski on injured reserve

Gostkowski's injury might explain some of his struggles this season. He's hit on just 11 of his 16 kicks (field goals and extra points combined) over the last three games.

Who will replace Gostkowski? The Patriots reportedly worked out a few free-agent kickers at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday.

The Patriots will play the Washington Redskins on the road Sunday afternoon in Week 5.
