NFL Rumors: Dolphins land former Patriots CB Aqib Talib in trade

Guess who's coming back to the AFC East?

The Los Angeles Rams are trading cornerback Aqib Talib to the Miami Dolphins, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported hours before the NFL trade deadline Tuesday.

Talib spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the New England Patriots, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2013 as a lockdown outside cornerback.

The 33-year-old joined the Broncos in 2014 and lasted four seasons in Denver before being traded to Los Angeles prior to the 2018 season.

Talib's acquisition is an interesting move for the 0-7 Dolphins, who should be sellers at the NFL trade deadline and already dealt running back Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals.

As our own Phil Perry notes, though, Talib has familiarity with Miami head coach Brian Flores from his days in New England, and the Dolphins actually could gain a compensatory draft pick out of the deal if Talib departs in free agency after the 2020 season.

The Dolphins visit New England in Week 17 this season, so Talib presumably will get to see some old friends.
