NFL odds: Latest betting line for perfect 16-0 Patriots season revealed

Share

The New England Patriots are a perfect 4-0 entering their Week 5 road matchup with the Washington Redskins, and oddsmakers have changed their betting line on the defending Super Bowl champions completing an unbeaten 16-0 regular season.

The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas gave the Patriots 10-1 odds to go 16-0 following their 43-0 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 2. New England's currents odds for an unblemished season are +750. Here are the latest betting lines:

The Patriots' schedule is pretty soft over the next few weeks. They play a winless Redskins team in Week 5 before hosting an inferior New York Giants team that's starting a rookie quarterback in Week 6. The Patriots play the rival New York Jets, who they've beaten seven consecutive times, in Week 7.

Week 8 is where the going gets tough for Tom Brady and Co. when they host the up-and-coming Cleveland Browns. Next, the Pats go on the road to play Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, then get a break with a bye week. After the bye, New England travels to Philadelphia to play a very good Eagles team, then returns to Gillette Stadium for a showdown with a top NFC contender in the Dallas Cowboys. The following matchup is with a talented Houston Texans team likely to make the playoffs, and then in Week 4 we get what likely will be billed as the "Game of the Century" between the Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs at Gillette Stadium.

This is a brutal seven-week stretch, and if the Patriots survive it undefeated, it's hard to imagine them blowing an opportunity at a second 16-0 regular season in franchise (and league) history.

UNC hires Belichick as new head coach to ‘evolve, compete and win'

What Belichick's ex-players are saying about coach's shocking UNC move

The Patriots need to play a lot better on offense if they're going to go deep into December unbeaten. Sunday's Week 4 win over the Buffalo Bills highlighted some weaknesses in the Patriots offense, including their running game and offensive line. The good news for the Pats is they have a couple more games against weak opponents to work out these issues before the real season begins in Week 8 against Baker Mayfield and the Browns.
