Jonathan Kraft wants you to know that he did not storm out of an owners meeting this past week.
According to CBS Sports, during last week's NFL owners meetings, Kraft got into a "heated exchange" with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over the league's new social-media policy that prohibits teams from publishing game highlights to their accounts.
"It was not a heated exchange," Kraft told 98.5 The Sports Hub before Sunday's game between the Patriots and the Bills. "I had planned on leaving early . . . I definitely didn’t storm out. I wanted to get home to a high school football game."
From Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his displeasure with the [social-media] mandate during this week's owners meeting in Houston, sources said. Jones had a heated exchange with Patriots team president Jonathan Kraft, who co-chairs the NFL's digital media committee.
Jones made an impassioned defense of the member clubs, claiming the highlights were team-generated content and clubs should be able to do what they want with them on social media. Some teams, like the Browns and Eagles, have made tongue-in-cheek posts aimed at the league's highlight policy -- the GIFs and videos are only displayed by the league's official social media sites -- and other owners have voiced displeasure over the measure as well.
Jones also expressed his belief that if the league can post the videos then the teams should do so as well. Kraft actually got up and left the meeting room at one point, sources said.
Kraft explained that the discussion focused on teams' ability to live-stream practice video.
