Julian Edelman promotes Showtime documentary with star-studded trailer

The latest sign that Julian Edelman has become an NFL star? He's getting the documentary treatment.

The 73-minute film, titled "100%: Julian Edelman" will air Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Showtime and tracks the New England Patriots wide receiver from his season-ending knee injury in August 2017 to his remarkable comeback as Super Bowl LIII MVP.

It should be an exciting watch for Patriots fans, but those outside New England might be wondering why a guy who's never made a Pro Bowl is getting his own documentary.

Showtime and Edelman are one step ahead of you. Here's a trailer Edelman shared Monday that pokes fun of that very concept. (Warning: Contains NSFW language.)

Showtime enlisted a surprising amount of big names to appear in the documentary, from Tom Brady, Danny Amendola and Deion Sanders to actor Mark Wahlberg, rapper Snoop Dogg and comedian Bill Burr.

That's quite the star-studded group for a seventh-round draft pick out of Kent State back in 2009.

But Edelman has raised his profile immensely in recent years, becoming the best wide receiver on the NFL's most successful and recognizable team. And now he's following in Brady's footsteps (again) by taking his talents to the documentary scene.

Here's a look at Showtime's "real" trailer for the Edelman documentary:
