With his punt return in the first quarter of the AFC Championship game, Julian Edelman is now the all-time leader in playoff punt returns with 35.
He passes Dave Meggett, former return specialist and three-time All-Pro selection for the Giants, Patriots and Jets, as well as Brian Mitchell. Both received 34 punts in their playoff careers.
Edelman continues to break punt return records for the postseason. He already owns the all-time punt return yards record with 403 coming into the game today.
The 32-year-old veteran also sits in seventh all-time for playoff receiving yards with 1,175 and has a chance to vault into the top-five with another strong game or two.
The Patriots are always making it deep into the postseason, so it makes these kinds of records more special than the regular season. The dominance of the Patriots dynasty is everywhere, and it should stand for a long time.
