Jerry Jones is still praising Patriots, jabbing Cowboys' Jason Garrett

Jerry Jones doesn't plan on firing Jason Garrett after the Dallas Cowboys' loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

But the Cowboys owner isn't done criticizing his head coach.

Jones went on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, two days after speaking critically of the Cowboys' attention to detail at Gillette Stadium, and defended his right to hold Garrett and the coaching staff accountable.

"When you're general manager, which I am, those coaches are out there at my ultimate decision," Jones said. "It's very much within my realm of purview, if you will, to not only be standing there as an owner but be standing there as the general manager who put the staff there to begin with.

"People seem to think it's particularly harsh to have criticism and they think when you look at the other side of the field and call a job well done, that might mean that's extraordinary criticism of the job you've done on the other side of the field."

Jones lauded Bill Belichick specifically after Sunday's game for preparing his team to play in poor weather and using the elements to the Patriots' advantage by forcing several Cowboys errors in the kicking game.

The Cowboys owners still believes Belichick outclassed his head coach in that regard.

"New England plays a lot of games in those circumstances," Jones said. "They coach their team to play games in those circumstances. They should. And you've got a very good chance when weather becomes a factor to be sitting there coaching against an advantage, and that is a coach and an organization that works to take advantage of those situations."

Jones then was asked who was responsible for the Cowboys, who play their home games in a dome, practicing indoors on Thursday and Friday ahead of Sunday's game.

"The head coach," Jones responded, with an obvious implication.

Jones reiterated he didn't consider firing Garrett after Sunday's loss dropped Dallas to 6-5. But he's well aware his team was at a significant coaching disadvantage Sunday.
