Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald joined Toucher & Rich on Tuesday to discuss a variety of Patriots-related topics before the team embarks on its trip to West Virginia for a round of joint practices with the New Orleans Saints.
Of quarterback Tom Brady's potential for playing in this weekend's preseason game against the Saints, Howe believes "if Brady practices really well this week, he's probably still going to get some reps. The reps he got last week, they weren't all that quality. He's gonna get some playing time."
Howe also touched on the team's depth chart at the running back position, citing Brandon Bolden is "locked in" for a roster spot along with James White, LeGarrette Blount, who he called "the No. 1 guy on the ground," and Jonas Gray.
On wide receiver Aaron Dobson, who has missed multiple practices with a hamstring injury, Howe said, "I thought he was completely safe but to have a minor hamstring injury turn into two weeks of missed practices, potentially going on three, he has to get himself out there quickly to ensure he's on the team."
