Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady are both from the Bay Area, so the L.A. signal caller has looked up to the five-time Super Bowl champion for a long time.
They will square off Sunday in Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where Goff and the Rams will try to start their own dynasty by handing Brady and the Patriots a second consecutive Super Bowl loss.
Goff was asked at a press conference Tuesday what part of Brady's skill set he wants to put into his own repertoire, and it wasn't a surprising answer given the position he plays.
"I admire his accuracy," Goff told reporters. "I think that's an attribute of his that has only gotten better as time has gone on. You think when you get older stuff slows down and goes downhill -- he's only gotten better. His accuracy is something that stands out to me."
Brady's accuracy is one of the best attributes of his game, and he's completed 65 percent or more of his pass attempts in each of the last three seasons. The only other period in his career during which he accomplished that feat was 2009 through 2011, so you really can make a case the 41-year-old quarterback has gotten better with age. Brady has seven seasons in his career with 28 or more touchdown passes and fewer than 10 interceptions, and six of those seasons have come in the last nine years.
Brady is completing 71.1 percent of his passes through two playoff games, and another accurate performance Sunday would give the Patriots a great chance to win their sixth Super Bowl championship in franchise history.
