Has Bill Belichick changed his mind on coaching into his 70s?

Share

Ten years ago, Bill Belichick stated he wouldn't coach into his 70s. Now 67 years old, the Patriots head coach has changed his tune.

During his Monday appearance on WEEI's "Ordway, Merloni & Fauria," Belichick was asked about his 2009 comments about his lack of interest in coaching past age 70. His answer, one day after earning the 300th victory of his head coaching career, was telling.

That sure sounds like Belichick has some unfinished business.

Much of that may have to do with the fact he's now is only 47 wins behind Dolphins legend Don Shula for most career victories as a head coach. With that record well in reach, coaching past age 70 may not be such a bad idea after all.

Belichick will look to earn win No. 301 of his career when the Patriots take on the Ravens next Sunday night in Baltimore.
