The National Football League has been delivering a different product to the people in recent history than they have in the past.
In a column for the Boston Herald, Ron Borges says recent alterations to the rules have made the game "one-sided" and turned it into a "mockery."
The Sports Tonight crew discussed the status of the game.
Michael Felger believes the league is using player safety as an excuse to mold the game into what they really want it to be.
"I think the safety thing is a cover for the league that allows them to say, 'we don't want this contact on the quarterbacks. We don't want the contact on the field because we're worried about the safety,'" said Felger. "I think they could care less whether these guys are mush brains or not. The lawyers may care with the lawsuits, that's certainly something to consider. But I think it allows them to do what they really want anyway, which is to open up the product for the fantasy points. And that's what they really care about."
