The Philadelphia Eagles won't have the services of a dynamic playmaker when they host the New England Patriots in a much-anticipated Week 11 matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.
Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson played in the season opener versus the Washington Redskins but missed the next seven games because of an injury. He returned for Philadelphia's Week 9 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but he's now sidelined again as a result of surgery.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that Jackson will miss more than a month of action, which means he won't be available to the Eagles when they play the Patriots on Nov. 17.
Jackson is one of the best playmaking wide receivers in the NFL with his speed and impressive route-running. He showed off his big-play ability in Week 1 by tallying eight receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles haven't been able to replace Jackson's production so far. Tight end Zach Ertz leads the team with 527 receiving yards, and zero Eagles wideouts rank inside the top 50 players in receiving yards.
Philly needs one of its wide receivers to step and become a reliable target for quarterback Carson Wentz, especially against a Patriots secondary that's arguably the deepest and most talented unit in the league.
