Duke Dawson trade highlights Bill Belichick's rocky history with second-round picks

The curtain fell on the Duke Dawson era in Foxboro Friday when the Patriots shipped defensive back to the Broncos.

And even though the 2018 second-round pick wasn't having a particularly good preseason, it was still jarring to see New England cut ties with Dawson before he ever appeared in a regular-season game.

Though Dawson is Bill Belichick's latest misfire in the second round, he's far from the only one. Patriots fans will point to Chad Jackson, Ras-I Dowling, Jordan Richards, and Cyrus Jones as prime examples of the team's second-round failures.

But in addition to the egregious whiffs, Belichick has also added players like Rob Gronkowski, Matt Light, and Patrick Chung in Round 2.
