Chargers RB Melvin Gordon returns to practice as showdown vs. Patriots nears

Los Angeles Chargers star running back Melvin Gordon returned to practice Thursday, but only in a limited fashion.

Gordon, who suffered a knee sprain injury in last weekend's AFC wild card win over the Baltimore Ravens, missed Wednesday's practice. But he is on track to play Sunday when Los Angeles takes on the New England Patriots in an AFC Divisional Round game at Gillette Stadium.

Other notable items on the Chargers' injury report Thursday include starting center Mike Pouncey being a full participant in practice (he didn't practice Wednesday) and Hunter Henry also being a full participant. Henry tore his ACL in May but could make his season debut Sunday.

Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (knee), tight end Dwayne Allen (knee) and safety Devin McCourty (concussion) all were removed from the Patriots' injury report Thursday.

McCourty gave a positive update on his status when asked how he feels physically.

"I’ve been good," McCourty said. "Anytime you get injured, you’re just working and trying to get back out there. So it felt good to be back out there this week with the guys practicing and getting ready to go play in a playoff game."
