Celebrate ex-Patriots WR Wes Welker's 39th birthday with great highlight video

Wes Welker had an extraordinary career with the New England Patriots.

The wide receiver is the team's all-time leader in targets, receptions and receiving yards per game. He also ranks third on the franchise's receiving yards leaderboard and eighth in receiving touchdowns. He tallied 100-plus receptions in five of his six seasons with the Patriots. This is pretty good production for the cost of 2007 second- and seventh-round draft picks, which was the price paid to the Miami Dolphins to acquire Welker via trade before the 2007 season.

Welker turned 39 years old Friday, and the NFL celebrated his birthday by posting a highlight video of some of the best plays from the veteran wideout's 11-year career. Included in the video is Welker's 99-yard touchdown reception from former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during a "Monday Night Football" game against the Miami Dolphins in 2011.

Check out the highlights in the tweet below:

Welker retired in 2015 and now is the wide receivers coach for the San Francisco 49ers.

He is one of the best slot receivers in league history, and the success he enjoyed in that role with the Patriots and Denver Broncos has led to an increased importance of that position in today's offenses.
