Belichick: ‘No' hesitation from Garoppolo in camp

FOXBORO -- Jimmy Garoppolo hasn't always looked completely polished during his second training camp. On Wednesday, he was given the vast majority of snaps behind center in Patriots 11-on-11 periods, and his performance had moments both good and bad.

Regardless, coach Bill Belichick says he likes what he's seen to this point from the product of Eastern Illinois.

"I think all of our players are making progress," Belichick said. "I think they've all -- the ones that are out there, we have a few guys who haven't been out there, but the ones who are out there -- are making progress. There's a lot of different units. There are different groupings. Guys working together with different timing. That's something that we've all gotta get used to at whatever position we're talking about. Offensive line, defensive secondary, defensive line, passing game.

"I think Jimmy's working hard. I think he's making progress, and I think that's what the guys are out there doing. I don't think any of us are really ready to play yet, we've got another week for that -- or coach. We'll just keep working to that point and we'll get a better idea of how that comes together when we get out there."

Garoppolo had a few moments in particular on Wednesday when he appeared to wait for a relatively extended amount of time before releasing the football. Some of those throws still resulted in completions, though the defensive linemen on the play may have been close enough to contact him had they been allowed. Other throws were off the mark.

Belichick was asked if he saw any hesitation from Garoppolo in terms of his passes or his decision-making. The coach's answer was brief: "No."
