Bill Belichick knows that he has no control over when the Patriots get their bye week. But now that it's upon them, he's going to try to make sure his team makes the most of it.
After beating the Jaguars 51-17 on Sunday, Belichick encouraged his players to rest as much as possible because with a bye in Week 4, they'll have to play 13 consecutive weeks in the regular season.
"Congratulations. That was a good week," Belichick told his players immediately after the win. "That was a good week. Had to go all the way through, it didn't just happen today. That was a good week of preparation. Thought we played a lot better, a lot more consistent.
"Can't waste this time. We still have a lot of [stuff] we've got to work on, and it's a long haul after this. Let's take advantage of the weekend if we can, get some rest. We still got a lot of work to do. Congratulations. That's a good job today, men. That's a good job. It's good to be 3-0."
