And now the Goodell/NFL coverup begins

And so the coverup begins. Greg Aiello of the NFL tweeted the following:

Roger Goodell has announced that based on new video evidence that became available today he has indefinitely suspended Ray Rice.

I repeat: And so the coverup begins.

Are we to believe TMZ obtained this elevator video before the NFL? Hey, Harvey and the crew in Hollywood are good, but they're not that good. Maybe TMZ should handle all of the plays under review on Sunday, as well.

I'm calling bullcrap on this one. There is no way I'm taking the NFL at its word. I cannot believe that, during their investigation, NFL security personnel didn't obtain the video from inside the elevator. If they didn't see it, it's because they didn’t ask to see it. And that's because they didn’t want to see it . . . which is a worse offense.

NFL Security is equivalent to the FBI and CIA. They are very good and know everything about every player and player incident in the league.

The authorities saw the video, the NFL saw the video, and the Ravens saw the video. That's what I believe. This is a coverup, people, pure and simple.

And you know what? Roger Goodell has no choice. If he admits to having seen the video prior to today, he would lose his job. There's no doubt in my mind.

Of course, Goodell didn't say he hadn't seen the video of Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee-and-now-wife in an elevator. He simply said it was new and available today. Available to whom? He may be implying new to the general public as opposed to himself.

If the NFL was a government agency, there would a full investigation and C-SPAN would provide wall-to-wall coverage. If Goodell were president, there would be a call for impeachment.

Don’t ever run for office, Roger. You'd be awful at it.
