Free Jacks, NBC Sports Boston announce partnership for 2022 MLR season


Sports fans throughout New England will be able to catch the exciting action from Major League Rugby during the 2022 season on NBC Sports Boston.

The New England Free Jacks and NBC Sports Boston announced Thursday a regional broadcast partnership for the upcoming season, which includes NBC Sports Boston presenting 12 of the Free Jacks' regular season matches outside of the designated MLR national broadcast fixtures.

“We are excited to launch into this partnership with the Free Jacks to bring fans in New England the dynamic action of professional rugby,” Chris Wayland, President and General Manager, NBC10 Boston, Telemundo Boston, NECN and NBC Sports Boston, said in a press release.

“We look forward to building on the Free Jacks 2022 Major League Rugby season and working with the team to showcase an exciting slate of matches.”

The Free Jacks' first game of the season is Feb. 4 in New Orleans versus the NOLA Gold. The 2022 MLR regular season concludes June 3, with the Championship Final taking place June 25-26.

The following 12 games will be broadcast on NBC Sports Boston:

  • February 27 at LA Giltinis – DELAY – 9:00pm
  • March 6 at Rugby New York – DELAY – 8:00pm
  • March 12 vs Toronto Arrows – LIVE – 4:30pm
  • March 19 at Austin Gilgronis – LIVE – 8:00pm
  • March 26 at Rugby ATL – LIVE – 3:00pm
  • April 2 vs NOLA Gold – LIVE – 4:30pm
  • April 9 vs Seattle Seawolves – LIVE – 4:30pm
  • April 30 vs Utah Warriors – LIVE – 4:30pm
  • May 13 at Rugby ATL – LIVE – 7:00pm
  • May 19 at Toronto Arrows – LIVE – 7:00pm
  • June 3 vs Rugby New York – LIVE – 7:00pm
