Reports surfaced Friday that the Texas Rangers would be seriously interested in David Ortiz if he opts to enter free agency at midnight tonight.
The Red Sox won't commit to the long-term deal that Ortiz wants, and the Rangers might be willing to dish out a 2-year deal in order to secure Ortiz.
Without Ortiz, the Sox would be losing yet another veteran player that has defined the Red Sox over the years. Ortiz has long been considered an integral part of the Red Sox identity.
