Judging by his Twitter account it appears that Bruins prodigy Tyler Seguin is getting along famously with Chicago bad boy Patrick Kane out in Switzerland.
The 20-year-old Bruins forward tweeted out a series of pictures on Tuesday taken with the Blackhawks forward during a Swiss magazine photo shoot along with Switzerlands top wrestler. Picture a tag team match of Kane and Seguin against the closest thing Switzerland has to Andre the Giant, and youve got an idea of what the pictures looked like.
In the words of Seguin the wrestler was kind of a big guy" and tweeted out two other pictures with the wrestler body-slamming Kane and lifting both NHL players up in the air like ragdolls.
Both Seguin and Kane are wearing some kind of costume for the photo shoot -- though nothing like the Photoshopped shots of the two in medieval garb wielding axes that surfaced recently. According to wikipedia, they were engaging in Swiss wrestling known as "Schwingen." It's a "Swiss style of folk wrestling native to common to the German-speaking parts of Switzerland. Wrestlers wear Schwingerhosen ("wrestling breeches") with belts that are used for taking holds. Throws and trips are common because the first competitor to pin hisher opponent's shoulders to the ground wins the bout."
To his credit Seguin appears to be a good sport during the surreal photo shoot, and has a big smile on his face while posing for the bizarrely humorous series of pictures.
Seguin spent last week in Boston and Toronto during a nearly two week break in the Swiss Elite League schedule, but returned to Switzerland over the weekend while games set to resume this week. It appears he left a little bit early to make sure he got in the photo shoot with fellow EHC Biel teammate Kane.
For the people of Switzerland, they are clearly getting their moneys worth out of the Bruins forward. Hes good-naturedly done what theyve asked him to do, and hes performed on the ice with 13 goals and 23 points in 15 games for Biel.
