INDIANAPOLIS - After two straight appearances in the AFC Championship, the New York Jets had to sit home this postseason and watch. And what they saw couldn't have looked so good. Not only did they have to watch their divisional rival Patriots make it to the Super Bowl, the Jets also bore witness to their New York colleagues from the NFC winning another Lombardi. I asked Rex Ryan Thursday at the NFL Combine if, as the offseason proceeds, the Jets eye the Patriots' transactions closely. "We always look at the moves of every team, especially New England," said Ryan. "That's the team that we have to beat, clearly. The three years I've been here they've won our division all three years and that's something that we want to do so there's a chess match going on."Chess might be a stretch, but...Meanwhile, Ryan insinuated that the Jets are built with the Patriots in mind. "Would our team look differently, would we put so many of our 'resources' into corner if we weren't playing the New England Patriots?" Ryan asked. "I don't know. But we definitely look at what they're doing. But the main thing is building our team. We have a vision for our team. We need to stay the course and do what we do best and I think that's our main focus."
