It appears as though the cheerful Cody Ross may no longer be so cheerful when it comes to contract negotiations with the Red Sox. Boston has been trying to work out a contract extension with the outfielder, but it looks like the talks have gone nowhere, according to a report by WEEI.
It hasnt been really what I would say close, Ross said. Now its going to be more complex with other teams involved. Its not just the Red Sox. They had a ton of opportunities. Now it only makes sense to listen to other teams.
The Red Sox could have made Ross a one-year, 13.3 million qualifying offer but did not.
Ross, 31, hit .267 with 22 homers and 81 RBI last season.
