Minihane: Boston 2024 ‘totally failed' from start

Boston's bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics fell apart Monday after Mayor Marty Walsh made it clear he wouldn't sign a host city contract, which would put taxpayers on the hook for any cost overruns.

USOC decided to drop Boston's bid for the Games.

But according to Kirk Minihane, Boston's bid for the Olympics faltered from the start.

"I think the ultimate message wasn’t going to work anyways but it doesn’t matter because they never got it across," Minihane said. "They totally failed from step one. They never had a successful moment ever. The debate was bad. The Deval Patrick thing was bad. The idea they were hiding things is bad. The minute Marty Walsh comes out and says I’m not signing this thing, boom, gone."
